Shawn Patterson
Q. Who influenced you mostly growing up as a child?
My parents and all of my elders. From them teaching me and me watching them, I've picked up many traits and characteristics - some of which I've gravitated towards and others, I've pushed away. A lot of these fundamental principles I learned early on in life, I've carried them until this day.
Q. What was your relationship with dogs in your formative years?
I've always gravitated to watch dogs and animals. Around 18 or 19. I started to take it seriously. Someone challenge me to train a dog. Actually, they stated "you can't train no dog." The word "can't" is like throwing gasoline on an open fire to me".
Q. Do you feel like you understand any other animals as you do dogs?
At first, I just really was in tune with dogs, but as I grow and elevate spiritually, I am connecting with all animals and humans on a much clearer level.
Q. What attracted / inspired you to work with dogs?
They are powerful that are able to inspire love or fear.
Q. What is the toughest case you have ever worked with? One of my toughest dog cases was me training a Dutch Shepherd. My training skills were able to grow and flourish once I truly understood the behavior of the dog and myself.
Q. How was it a success story?
I started to take a deeper look into the animal.
Q. What do you consider a fail?
I don't consider anything a failure. I just consider it a "miss time".
Q. What is the biggest life changing experience you’ve ever had ?
Having Children.
Q. How did it impact your daily life?
It drives me to want to work.
Q. How do you balance your work with your spiritual journey?
They are the same. I'm trying to train and work and love.
Q.Where do you see yourself in five years from now?
Retired in the Dominican Republic lol
Q. What has drawn you to work with people as well as the dogs?
I have realized people and dogs are very similar; so much so that that they are able to share or feed off of each other in anxieties and securities. And I realize as I help the dog, I am ultimately helping the individual.
